Attached to the Family
This is a heavily symbolic piece from Dagdamor: The meaning of it is also pretty heavy, if one stops and thinks about it: here, Lisa is portraied as a winged creature, meaning and symbol of complete freedom: and the little girl surely has all the qualities that would allow her to leap into the blue sky... but, that simple looking chain is something that no matter what, she must live with. Her family is the pillar that limits her freedom, but imho, it's also the solid base and reference that an idealistic person like Lisa needs in an otherwise vast and empty place where she could get lost.

Maybe i'm reading into it too much... i'll leave the author to make his comments if he feels like it :) I can only say that, on the technical side, this is another nice improvement: There's some pretty complex 3d work on the pillar, and Lisa's pose is pretty complex but realistic looking. Her wings are also no too big, not too short.
Sleep tight, little angel, sometime you'll be free. :)

i see the Bart spikes as a symbol of dominance Bart is the top most problem in her life teasing, thwarting and mocking her attempts to fit in easier. He lurks like a vulture only stopping when the night appears.

And it's definitely something to be proud of. Now that I can find the words...
It reminds me almost of that episode, "Simpsons Bible Stories" at the end, where Lisa is almost accepted into Heaven, but Homer makes her join the family at the BBQ in Hell. In short, although she has wings and is capable of flying, she's tied down to them and her fate will be as theirs is.

That's very moving...
Dagdamor's Answer: Thank you. Strange, but this is the only picture so far I'm kinda proud of. Which is weird keeping in mind the subject. But...

I still can't help but notice that the top of the pillar looks like Bart's hair. Now that I know it, it's a litte distracting. I am really interested in this pic. The wings look a bit odd to me, they seem, well, a bit narrow. But that's just my opinion. One sec, I'll get my pliers. That chain's goin' DOWN!
Dagdamor's Answer: Aw, thank you for your comment! Yes, Lisa's wings look too small... that was my first and so far the last attempt to draw her winged. Thanks again :)

This shows you dont need Photoshop-supermillion-MS-XP whatever computer wizerdery to create an awsome picture. Simple, and brilliant.
Dagdamor's Answer: Well, actually, it was edited in Photoshop afterwards :) but thank you for the sweet words! Heh, your Heaven&Hell pic is better anyway, imo ;)

Ah, I love this drawing. It's a delightful visual metaphor for Lisa Simpson, the misunderstood genius whose potential is often thwarted by her less than intellectual family. The column's spikey top is an especially amusing allusion to her sometimes cruel brother, who has been responsible for more than his fair share of said thwartery.

Someone, quick! Cut her chain! :) Wonderful pic.
Dagdamor's Answer: Aw, thank you, Jonathan! Nice to know that the picture inspires some positive thoughts, not only the desire to strangle the author with this chain...
