Yggdrasill's Window on Evergreen

Yggdrasill is an artist. I mean it, his pictures are so much more than simple fanart of the Simpsons family. Let me explain: aside his technical prowess with a pencil, that is under everyone's eyes right here, in most of his works he is able to put into pencil so many details and so much emotion, that you can't possibly look at a picture by him and pass it with a smile. No, his drawings make you think and wonder... what if art *was* actually a window opened on another universe? If it was, this is what I could see. I'm very proud to have his beautiful art here, in the Simpsons Realities. :)

Amongst the Dirt
While walking with Marge and Maggie, Lisa finds a kitty family amongst the dirt. You can almost hearing her go "aaaw, Can we keep them mom?". This picture lacks the multi-layered symbolism of other efforts from this artists, but it's as strong as ever technically. The cluttered scrapyard is well rendered, the kittens grab the eye for their vulnerability. Marge's expression i actually what you'd expect from her in such a situation. Going for a smile would have been too toony and sugar hearted,...
Birdie Lisa 2
Another very symbolic picture of Birdie Lisa, this one a bit more straight-forward in its plot. Birdie Lisa is made for freedom, don't keep her in a cage! Technically still excellent picture, Lisa is once again drawn with a lot of care and feeling, her frustrated and angry expression really moves our hearts. We can see where the key is, so why don't we help her out? It's good to keep her for us... but she needs her freedom too :) Btw, on LTS forum it was noted how cute was the subtle detail o...
Birdie Lisa 1
A first of two pictures with the same subject that is our beloved Winged Lisa, here more seemingly to a birdie-Lisa than an Angel-Lisa. Imho, this picture is the greatest display of all of Yggdrasil's artistic qualities, all in one picture. There's as always the amniacal attention to detail, the little particulars that add a lot to the feel of the picture, the nice anatomical correcntess (the human arm), the plot, and a singular feeling of hidden uncertainity, abandon and even nostalgy scatte...
Real Lisa
How.. unusal picture. Lisa with realistic facial features ( pimples! Only Yggdrasil could have thought of that :D ) and hairm but still with her trademark overbite. Her smile so close to the camera is a balsam for the heart, and the perspective f the picture is very intimate. All in al, this is an interesting experiment... some might like more or less but we can't avoit applauding Yggdrasil for yet another impressive and original effort!
In the Land of Dreams
Lisa's dram all right.. beautiful landscape, an unicorn, and peace. I'm almost out of words to compliment Yggdrasil's magical pencil hand. The details are overhwelming and the realism of the picture is breathtaking. The unicorn is also very nicely drawn, as is Lisa. A pic like this just misses one thing.. colors. :)
Abigail
kids, this is not for you.. but yes, because it is ART! The sheer quantity of great shots and techniques in this pics is mesmerizing, it's like many wondeful pictures collaged into one... and actually it is. :) Again, to get the pics full meaning and "power" you should know and like "King Diamond's Abigail" album, but even if you don't i'm sure you will be lost on this materpiece for minutes to come. :)
Autumn Lisa
One of my favourites from Entire Yggdrasil's collection. The plot is simple, execution is as always flawless and super detailed... the mood is... wintery! i love winter, and seeing Lisa so at ease just looking at the foliage around her... it makes me feel very calm and at peace with the world.
A Very Sad Day
Oh man, i want to hug Lisa... her crying expression is so well rendered it touches your heart! The picture is emotionally poignant... little can do Marge's closeness for such a loss, and she knows it as she tries to brak into Lisa's self loathing little shell. The vire on the street with poor snowball's corpse is as cuel to us as it is to Lisa... but agai na great siplay of artistic mentality.
THEM
Okay, this is scary. But it's much more understandable if you're familiar with King Diamond's "THEM" Album and one of best efforts up to date. It's kind of niched Black-Rock Metal so i wont be surprised if you don't know much about it. Anyway, another technically excellent.. and unsettling... piece of pencil art. The contrasts ,the AWESOME perspective... it's all great guys, i just can't comment every single bit. These kind of drawings are close to art than to Fanart. :)
Lost Our Maggie
Why did MAggie go to Budapest? Great picture, chck full of nice details, every character fitting his/her role quite good. the worried Marge, the uncaring Bart, theinvestigative Lisa, the "i might be dumb but i do all i can" Homer. :) I veyr much like the corner with Maggie. She has a very cute expression.
Gently
Based on DB's "Gently" fanfic, this esemplar picture shows a precise moment of it. The light/dark contrast is well done, Lisa looks genuinely exhausted after the havy struggle. Homer looks a bit off, but he's also drawn at a difficult angle... as for the "monster", it reminds me of Gremlins! Very dramatic picture.
Lisa & Maggie - Remake
Pencil colored version, and remake, of the pic you can find at the start of this gallery. In the remake the problems with Maggie's arms and their clothes are solved, but the perspective is different so the "they're so high up!" sensation misses a bit. Can't choose a favourite between the two :)
Future Enmity
Shiny clothes, anyone? :D Even if the pic is black and white, the way Yggdrasil shades the clothes is pretty shiny. He pulls off this effect very well, if a bit too much. But it's fture, so i don't know what they could be wearing those years. I wonder what they are looking at. :) For now i'll just look once again at the impressive display of skill here!
Homer & Bart - Graveland
A picture not feauturing Lisa, and the moste detailed up until now! Although the plot of it is obscure, the scene is clear and it's amazing how much detail Yggdrasil managed to fit in here with just his pencil. I don't have the time to comment on every single detail that catches my eye here... but one. Homer has hair! Woo! :D
Moonlight
Trippy! Lisa seems to be electrified by moonlight.. and being the bluesy kind of person, i don't doubt she is! This picture once again shows the innate skills of Yggdrasil as a pencil artist. Great effects carried with the simple use of pencil... no photoshop trickery. The clouds and rays of light coming off are good example of that. Lisa's drawn again in ggdrasil's personal style, with heaps of attention to the clothing and a very particular way of delivering Expression, wich might be or not...
Lisa & Snowball II
Lisa as she's drawn here reminds me of Tracey Ullman era. Her sharp spikes and teeth and stylised features... she's still cute though. I am particularily impressed by her stance, once agan very realistic, the details of her discarded sandal and the anatomically corrected feet. The scene in itself is pretty sweet and quite believable too: Snowball is drawn perfectly, and has a very cat-like pose. It's always very hard to find something to criticize in Yggdrasil's pictures. :)
Bart Strikes Lisa 2
Ouch! Poor Lisa, but at least she managed to retaliate.... i guess. Now i can't say if she's crying over having striked Bart or being hit by him. In any way, this is surely an original pic, few have drawn the relations between the siblings in such a (even painfully) realistic way. Even graphically, if it wasn't for the head, their bodies and clothes look very realistic in all, the ripples, the forms... another unusual pic and of course a technical masterpiece.
Jazz Band Violet Piranhas
You can feel the music! Lisa's pose is what makes this picture a winner to me. She's just so enticed soloing with her sax alone, and al lthe people casually noddign to her tune around her.. it's just what jazz feels. I also liek the detail of the ripply banner up there! Also congratulations for the choice of name. Technically, there's nothign i can say... the pic is excellent.
Enslaved by Simpsons
Being Yggdrasil a good fashined Metal fan (Yay for Black Metal!), here's a Simpsons parody of an album by Enslaved. It keeps the original mood and composition, and the simpsons shapes in the blue background are all well .. outlined. I liek the hints of facial features in dark blue. Very good observation form the artist here!
Lisa & Maggie
A picture inspired from Dagdamor's "Wings" Story, and despite being only black and white, it's a very thrilling picture. Maggie looks hyper about the fly with her big sister, and i guess they must be pretty high up. Good work on the backround, with simple pencil lines it looks quite believable. The ripples on Lisa's and Maggie's dress are a bit overdone although mayne they are there to give the impression of the strong speed/winds up there. nothing i can complain on really. When is it my turn...
